DHAKA: Daily Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milon, also eminent writer, on Thursday said Bashundhara Group does not believe in publicity and that’s why they are silently working for the people.
He came up with the observation while addressing a tree plantation programme in Bashundhara Cement Mills area in Narayanganj.
As its third phase of CSR, Bashundhara Group arranged the tree plantation programme and distributed 4,000 of plants, including fruits and medicines among five hundred families.
Milon also said, “Because of the industrial entrepreneurship of Bashundhara Group, there are so many sources of employment have been created and people’s economical stability is ensured.”
Besides these, Bashundhara Group is launching several charitable programmes.
Bashundhara Group handed over a check of Tk 10 lakh to the family of a journalist who was killed in a road accident in front of the National Press Club.
Addressing the function, DCF of Dhaka of Social Forestry Department Mohammad Shamsul Azom said that some 25 percent of a country needs forest but Bangladesh has only 17 percent.
He also said, “The people think government will plant trees but this is not true. People from all walks of life have to plant trees.”
Chief Marketing Promotional Officer of Bashundhara Group Saiful Islam Helali said that people would be inspired if there can be started an award in the corporate level for planting trees.
With Deputy Managing Director (Cement) of Bashundhara Group AKM Mahbub-Uz-Zaman in the chair, the function was also addressed by Upazila Agriculture Officer Golam Mostafa.
Social Welfare Officer Helal Uddin, acting Officer-in-Charge of the Port Thana Akhtaruzzaman and Bashundhara Group Deputy Manager (Information and Media) Mohammad Golam Alamgir also attended the function.
