DHAKA: One of the leading mobile operators Airtel Bangladesh is going to launch 3G service in October in Dhaka and Chittagong primarily.
Airtel Bangladesh Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Chris Tobit came up with the disclosure at Banani, Airtel office in a press conference on Wednesday.
He also said that 3G service will be provided in the rest of the divisions of the country within December of the year.
Chris said Airtel is ready to provide this service at any cost across the country. Airtel is covering 80 percent of the country with 2G service at present, he added.
Airtel has already bought 5MHz spectrum which will be sufficient to provide the service countrywide.
Moreover two other mobile operators Grameenphone and Robi are going to introduce this service by next month as well.
Airtel Chief Service Officer Rubaba Daula, Chief Financial Officer SK Mukhopaddhay and Chief Technical Officer Swandipon Chakrobarty were also present in the press conference.
