DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman asked the authorities concerned of commercial banks to be careful over financing so that militants and terrorist group cannot be financed in the name of Islami banking.
The central bank governor came up with the plea while addressing a four-day long workshop at a city on Monday.
He said, “The Islami banking is becoming popular day by day. But Islami banks and other financial institutions have to be careful about financing so that terrorist activities cannot be conducted in name of Islami banking.”
Dr Atiur Rahman also said the Islami banking increasing rapidly in Bangladesh and eight banks are operating such kind of banking.
Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor SK Sur Chowdhury and Islamic Financial Services Board General Secretary Jasim Ahmed also spoke.
