UNIQLO to open 2 new stores in city

DHAKA: Grameen UNIQLO announces that it will open two new stores at Kakoli and Nayapaltan in the capital towards its vision of a nationwide chain.

The latest launch follows on the opening of its first two stores in Bangladesh`s capital in mid-July. In the short span of four months, Grameen UNIQLO has attracted a popular following across Dhaka, and the latest locations cater to growing demand.

Tadahiro Yamaguchi, Grameen UNIQLO Chief Operating Officer, said, "We are excited to, so soon after initial launch, have the opportunity to expand across Bangladesh. We would like to thank the people of Bangladesh for the warm reception.

"This is the next step towards the vision of a nationwide chain of stores, and we will be increasing our product offering and aim to attract a strong fan base right across Bangladesh."

Grameen UNIQLO produces the collection in Bangladesh using locally sourced materials, providing highly practical items - made by locals, for locals.

A social business launched in 2010, Grameen UNIQLO is a joint venture between Fast Retailing Co. Ltd and Grameen Healthcare Trust. Profits are re-invested in the business within Bangladesh, to grow the network of stores.

The initiative is one aspect of Fast Retailing`s long-term commitment to address poverty, hygiene, the environment, and educational and gender inequality in the rapidly developing nation.

Grameen UNIQLO began with door-to-door sales in farming villages - offering affordable, quality clothing to people living below the poverty line. Through the new stores in Dhaka, Grameen UNIQLO creates local jobs and offers customers in Bangladesh`s capital quality, comfortable, and affordable clothing.
