DHAKA: The supermarkets, markets and shops of the country have been closed since March 25 in line with the government holiday in a bid to check the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
The small businessmen are being affected severely due to closure of their institutions.
According to an estimate, there are 56 lakh small enterprises or organisations in the country where less than 15 people work.The businessmen are counting losses of Tk 1100 crore every day under this present situation. The monthly loss now stands at Tk 33,000 crore (from March 25 to April 25).
On the other hand, the businessmen have failed to do business of this year’s Pahela Baishak (Bengali New Year).
The loss of Pahela Baishak business is estimated at Tk 6,000 crore.
Overall business loss, including the business of Pahlea Baishak, is estimated at Tk 40,000 crore by the small businessmen of the country, sources concerned revealed this information.
