DHAKA: Eastern Bank Ltd (EBL) has introduced a Commercial Paper (CP), a widely used money market financial instrument across the world, worth Tk 500 million for ACI Ltd for their high end subscribers.

To celebrate this remarkable deal, a ceremony was held recently at a city hotel.

SK Sur Chowdhury, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank was the Chief Guest in the programme where Dr Arif Dowla, Managing Director of ACI Ltd, Ali Reza Iftekhar, Managing Director and CEO of EBL, and on behalf of the Subscribers AKM Shahidul Haque, Managing Director and CEO of Midland Bank Ltd, Imran Karim, Managing Director of Confidence Steel Ltd, Waqar A Chowdhury, Managing Director of Vanguard Asset Management Ltd and Mirza Gholam Erfan, Director, Techno Venture Ltd were present among others.

The commercial papers are covered by bank guarantee. The move initiated a new chapter in the history of the financial market of Bangladesh.
