Norwegian squash pro Chloe Kalvø conducts clinic for female squash players at IUB

Chloe Kalvø, a professional squash player from Norway, conducted a daylong clinic for female squash players at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on November 15.

The event, organized in collaboration with the Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation (BSRF) at the IUB Squash Court, attracted 35 squash players – including several from IUB – from different schools and colleges from Dhaka.

She was accompanied by her father, Otto Edvard Husby Kalvø, who also engaged with participants in exciting matches, sharing expert tips and strategies to elevate their skills. The clinic was co-moderated by IUB squash coaches Abu Sowad and Marjan Akter Monika, who provided additional training support and ensured an enriching experience for all attendees.

The clinic provided a unique opportunity for three female squash players from IUB – Riyajul Zannat Urdho (Computer Science and Engineering), Joti Rani Roy (Accounting) and Anika Tabassum Kotha (Pharmacy) – to gain firsthand experience of competing against one of the top player in the world. Of these students, Urdho and Joti are currently studying at IUB on squash scholarships.

Chloe also presented professional-grade squash rackets to the best participants, recognizing their potential and encouraging their continued growth in the sport. She also presented squash sportswear from her own brand, Kalvø, to all the participants. Mr. Rashed Chowdhury, Member of the IUB Board of Trustees, and Brig. Gen. Quamrul Islam (Retd.), General Secretary of BSRF, attended the event.

IUB inaugurated its international-standard squash court on campus in January 2024 and enrolled several students on squash scholarships, aiming to develop players who could represent Bangladesh in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, where squash will feature for the first time.
