The results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations have been released, revealing a significant decline in the pass rate compared to last year.
According to official data published on Thursday (July 10), the nationwide pass rate stood at 68.45 percent, a drop of nearly 15 percentage points from 83.04 percent recorded in 2024.
Analysis of the results shows that out of 1,904,086 candidates in 2025, 1,303,426 students passed. In 2024, 2,013,597 students took part in the exams, with 1,672,153 candidates passing.
Pass rates have decreased across all education boards.
The Dhaka Education Board recorded a pass rate of 67.51 percent this year, down from 89.32 percent in 2024. In Chattogram, the pass rate declined to 72.07 percent from 82.80 percent last year.
Rajshahi Board saw a pass rate of 77.63 percent, compared to 89.25 percent the previous year. The Cumilla Board reported 63.60 percent, dropping from 79.23 percent.
Jashore Board, which achieved the highest pass rate of 92.33 percent in 2024, fell to 73.69 percent this year.
Dinajpur Board’s pass rate dropped to 67.03 percent from 78.43 percent. Mymensingh Board saw one of the sharpest declines, with the pass rate falling to 58.22 percent compared to 84.97 percent last year.
The Madrasah Education Board reported a pass rate of 68.09 percent, down from 79.66 percent.
The Technical Education Board recorded a pass rate of 73.63 percent, compared to 81.38 percent in 2024.
Barishal Board posted the lowest pass rate among all boards this year at 56.38 percent, declining from 89.13 percent last year.
Sylhet Board’s pass rate stood at 68.57 percent, down from 73.35 percent.
Education officials noted that students can access their individual results online and through SMS services.
