Over six lakh students fail SSC exams across Bangladesh

More than six lakh students did not pass this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, according to results published on Thursday (July10).

The overall pass rate across the country stood at 68.45 percent.

Professor Dr Khondoker Ehsanul Kabir, Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and President of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, announced the results at an official press conference.

Data shows that a total of 1,904,086 students from 30,088 institutions took part in the examinations held at 3,714 centres under nine general education boards, the Madrasah Education Board and the Technical Education Board.

Of the total candidates, 1,303,426 students passed, while 600,660 students did not qualify.

Under the nine general education boards, 1,479,310 students sat for the exams, of whom 1,006,554 passed. The number of students failing under these boards stood at 472,756.

In the Madrasah Education Board, 286,572 students took part, with 195,115 passing and 91,457 failing.

The Technical Education Board recorded 138,204 candidates, with 101,757 students passing and 36,447 failing to secure a pass.

Education authorities said students can access their individual results through the official websites and SMS services.
