The schedule for the long-awaited Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election will be announced on July 29, the university's election commission said on Sunday.
The announcement came during a briefing held at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of Dhaka University in the morning.
Chief Returning Officer Professor Dr Golam Rabbani presented details of the upcoming election process. He confirmed that the official election schedule will be released on July 29, with voting likely to take place in the second week of September.
For the first time, polling stations will be set up not only in residential halls but also outside the halls, in six designated venues across the campus.
According to the commission's decision, the polling centres and their respective hall-wise allocations are as follows:
1. Curzon Hall Examination Centre: Students from Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall, Amar Ekushey Hall, and Fazlul Huq Hall will cast their votes here.
2. Physical Education Centre: Students from Jagannath Hall, Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall, and Salimullah Muslim Hall will vote at this centre.
3. TSC (Teacher-Student Centre): Female students from Rokeya Hall, Shamsunnahar Hall, and Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall will vote here.
4. Dhaka University Club Centre: Balloting for students from Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall and Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall will be held at this location.
5. Senate Building (Alumni Floor, Seminar Room, Dining Room): This centre will serve voters from Sir A. F. Rahman Hall, Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall, and Bijoy Ekattor Hall.
6. Udayan School and College Centre: Students from Surya Sen Hall, Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, and Kabi Jasim Uddin Hall will vote here.
