A total of 471 candidates have been finalised to contest the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election.
However, of the 509 candidates, 28 withdrew their nominations, while 10 did not re-appeal.
The final list of candidates was published on Tuesday at the university’s Senate Building.
According to the list, 45 candidates will vie for the post of vice president (VP), 19 for general secretary (GS), 25 for assistant general secretary (AGS), 17 for liberation war and democratic movement secretary, and 12 for science and technology secretary.
Earlier, nomination papers were distributed between 12 August and 19 August, and candidates were required to submit them by 20 August.
This year, students will contest a total of 28 posts in the central union, including vice president, general secretary, assistant general secretary, liberation war and democratic movement secretary, science and technology secretary, common room, reading room and cafeteria secretary, international affairs secretary, literature and cultural secretary, sports secretary, student transport secretary, social service secretary, research and publication secretary, career development secretary, health and environment secretary, human rights and legal affairs secretary, along with 13 executive member posts.
