Newly elected leaders of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) have extended their support to the family of journalist Tarikul Shibli, who died after falling ill while covering the recent DUCSU elections.

On Friday, several DUCSU leaders, including newly elected Vice President Abu Sadik Kayem and General Secretary SM Farhad, visited the journalist’s family.

In a Facebook post, GS Farhad said that DUCSU representatives have initially handed over Tk 2,00,000 to support the two young children left behind by Tarikul. The funds were arranged through the student organisation Shibir.

He added, “InshAllah, we will continue to stand by the family in every possible way. Please keep the children who lost their father in your prayers.”
