The nomination paper of independent candidate for the Rajshahi-1 (Tanore-Godagari) seat in the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections, actor Mahiya Mahi has been suspended today (December 3).

Returning Officer Shamim Ahmed rejected Mahi's nomination paper over an information mismatch today.

The returning officer claimed that there has been some mismatch in the information submitted by Mahi and therefore her nomination has been suspended.

Mahi collected the Awami League nomination form for the Rajshahi-1 and Chapainawabganj-2 constituencies.

However, the actress was not named in the party's final nomination list.

Later she decided to run as an independent candidate from Rajshahi-1.
