DHAKA: The United States space agency Nasa has ticked off superstar Beyonce for using an audio clip from the 1986 Nasa Challenger explosion in her new song.

XO, a single from her latest self-titled album, opens with a six-second audio sample from the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.

Then Nasa public affairs officer Steve Nesbitt is heard saying about the explosion, ‘Flight controllers here looking very carefully at the situation. Obviously a major malfunction’, reports The Straits Times.

A statement from Nasa on Tuesday read, ‘The Challenger accident is an important part of our history; a tragic reminder that space exploration is risky and should never be trivialised’.
