Noted singer Sadi Mohammad no more

Noted Rabindra Sangeet singer Sadi Mohammad Taqiullah passed away on Wednesday evening.

Sadi Mohammad, 70, breathed his last around 7.30 pm, said his younger brother and distinguished dancer Shibli Mohammad.

Sadi was practicing music with his Tanpura when his room's door was found closed, Shibli said, adding upon breaking it open, Sadi was discovered hanging.

Sadi Mohammad, who also served as the director of the cultural organization Rabi Raag, was a significant figure in the field of Rabindra Sangeet. 

Shibli, who recently got the Ekushey Padak, credited Sadi as a major influence in his life alongside their mother.

Sadi Mohammad, who had studied Rabindra Sangeet at Visva-Bharati University in India, was the son of Liberation War martyr Salimullah and Jebunnesa Salim Ullah. 

His body was taken to the morgue at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.
