DHAKA: US singer Lady Gaga has revealed in a radio interview on The Howard Stern Show that she was raped at 19.

Host Stern had quizzed her during the Tuesday interview about the meaning behind her 2013 song ‘Swine’, to which she replied:

‘I went through some horrific things that I’m able to laugh now, because I’ve gone through a lot of mental and physical therapy and emotional therapy to heal over the years.’

Claiming that the man who raped her was 20 years older than her at the time, she added, ‘I was a shell of my former self at one point. I was not myself. To be fair, I was about 19’.

‘I went to Catholic school and then all this crazy stuff happened, and I was going, ‘Oh, is this just the way adults are?’

The 28-year-old went on to explain that she had never previously broached the issue or confront the attacker because she did not want ‘to be defined by it’.

She said she had once seen him in a store after the alleged rape and was ‘paralyzed by fear’, reports The Straits Times.
