3-day Swiss Film Festival in Dhaka

DHAKA: The Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, in cooperation with the Goethe Institut Dhaka, will organize a three-day Swiss Film Festival from December 7 in city.

Three Swiss films will be screened at the Goethe-Institut Auditorium in Dhanmondi during the festival. The festival will be inaugurated at 6.00pm on December 7.

The opening film of the festival, “Die Schwarzen Brüder” (The Black Brothers), set in the 19th century backdrop, tells an adventurous story of the young chimney sweepers in Italy and their spectacular escape back to Switzerland.

The film will be screened at 6.00pm on December 7.

The second film of the festival, “More than Honey”, is an internationally acclaimed Swiss documentary film that raises the question whether we should be worried about the apparent disappearance of the bees.

Seeking answers, the film embarks on a journey to meet with people whose lives depend on bees.

The film was nominated for Academy Awards under Best Foreign Language Film category.

“More than Honey” will be screened at 6.00pm on December 8.

The last film of the festival, “Der Verdingbub” (The Foster Boy) depicts the difficult life of an orphan boy in his foster house, where he is treated badly, and his emotional journey.

The film will be screened at 6.00pm on December 9, the last day of the festival.

All the films are in German language with English subtitles. The film festival is open for all; no entry pass is required.
