Saurav Kumar Nahar’s soiree at IGCC

DHAKA: A music evening by Dr Saurav Kumar Nahar will be arranged at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in city’s Gulshan area.

The soiree will be held at 6.30pm on March 7.

Dr Saurav Kumar Nahar is an established Hindustani classical vocal music exponent of India who is currently working as a vocal teacher-cum-performer at IGCC, Dhaka, said a press release on Thursday.

According to the release, Nahar is one of the foremost exponents of Bhagalpur Sangeet Gharana and being trained under the guidance of his father Guru Pandit Sangeet Kumar Nahar.

Born in 1984 in Bihar, Nahar hails from a family of great musical maestros like late Pandit Prahalad Prasad Mishra (his grandfather) and has trained under late Pandit Ram Naresh Mishra. He had his MA in music from Delhi University and obtained his doctorate degree from Indira Kala Sangit University, Khairagarh.

Dr Nahar is blessed with the basic instinct of a khayal singer. He has an uncanny knack of performing Khayal gayaki in its myriad forms with great skill and adroitness. He, who is an ‘A’ grade artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan, has a very well cultivated voice.

The soiree will be open to all and no bags will be allowed on the IGCC premises during the concert.
