Weeklong ‘music fair’ in city from Apr 9

DHAKA: For the first of its kind, a weeklong ‘music fair’ will be held on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in city’s Segun Bagicha area from April 9.

Everyday, the fair, to be organized by Music Industries Owners’ Association of Bangladesh (MIB), will remain open to all from 3:00pm to 9:00pm till April 17.

The organizers made the announcement at a press conference at Sagor-Runi Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in Segun Bagicha on Sunday evening.

At least 50 stalls will be setup at the fair to be attended by the audio production houses, content providers and entrepreneurs related to music.

A stage will also be setup at the fairground featuring musical performances by eminent singers as well as discussions on the development of music and finding out ways to stop piracy.

MIB president AKM Arifur Rahman, general secretary Ahmed Ali Pappu, singers Sajeda Fatemi and Jane Alam and composer and lyricist Zulfikar Rusel, among others, were present at the press conference.
