Bangladesh Street Theatre Fest set to kick off

DHAKA: The weeklong Bangladesh Street Theatre Festival-2016 (Bangladesh Pathanatak Utshab) is set to kick off on Central Shaheed Minar premises of the capital on Tuesday afternoon (March 1).

Bangladesh Pathanatak Parishad will arrange the festival as in the previous years.
 
Since 2002, Bangladesh Pothonatok Parishad has been organizing national street drama festival.

This year the slogan of the festival is “No clemency for fact twisters of the liberation war/conspirators must face trial”.

Bangladesh Chapter of International Theatre Institute (ITI) president and also freedom fighter Nasiruddin Yousuf would inaugurate the festival.

Gana Sangeet Shamanya Parishad president Fakir Alamgir, journalist-columnist Abu Sayeed Khan, Combined Cultural Forum general secretary Hasan Arif, Group Theatre Federation vice-president Jhuna Chowdhury, Recitation Coordination Forum general secretary Ahkamullah and Pathanatak Parishad vice-president Mizanur Rahman Khan will attend the inaugural session.

Bangladesh Pathanatak Parishad president Mannan Hira will chair the event while its general secretary Ahmed Giash will deliver welcome speech.

As many as 50 theatre groups, enlisted with Bangladesh Pathanatak Parishad, will stage plays in this festival to continue till March 7.

From six to seven plays will be presented from 5:00pm everyday.
