DHAKA: Poet Hasan Hafiz has received the literature award from Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) for his famous poetry book ‘Oviman, Mrittu o Pathor’.

The award is introduced by the organization for the first time.

Teacher and writer Prof. Abdullah Abu Sayeed handed down the award to Hasan Hafiz at DRU Sagar-Runi Auditorium on Sunday (November 20) after Jury Board Chief Syed Manzoorul Islam announced his name.

Abdullah Abu Sayeed said information is the key to journalism, but its root is literature and an award is something so amazing that can not be understood until having one.

Poet Asad Chowdhury said we, as a Bengali nation, can not accept the success of others. We are rather very envious. But the exceptional initiative taken by DRU members to recognize and reward the fellow member’s works truly deserves praise.

Literature award jury board Chief Prof. Syed Manzoorul Islam said the organization is acceptable to all as valued the works of other keeping aside the politics. The initiatives also encouraged the society.

Writer and journalist Mahbub Alam, DRU President Zamaluddin, General Secretary Razu Ahmed, and Publicity Secretary Kafi kamal were also present at the event.
