KOLKATA: Renowned West Bengal folk singer and leader of the band “Dohar” Kalika Prasad Bhattacharjee was killed in a car accident while five others were critically injured on Tuesday (March 7)
 
The accident happened on the Durgapur Expressway at Gurap in Hooghly district while the singer was returning to Kolkata.

Police said, the singer, in his mid 40s, was declared brought dead at a Burdwan hospital.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she was shocked to learn about the mishap in which the singer died tragically.

Kalika Prasad Bhattacharya is known for his work on Jaatishwar (2014), Moner Manush (2010) and Bhuban Majhi (2017).

Kalika Prasad held an important position in the Z-Bangla reality TV show ‘SA RE GA MA PA’. 

He visited Dhaka on March 1 to attend the special show of ‘Bhuban Majhi’ as he was the music director of this movie.

His death shocked the music lovers of both countries. Famous musicians also expressed their deepest sympathies to him and his family.
