DHAKA: The first namaj-e-janaja of noted singer-composer Lucky Aakhand was held at Armanitola ground in older part of Dhaka Saturday morning (April 22).

Noted personalities from cultural arena of the country including lyricist Asif Iqbal, Lucky’s son Sabhya Tara and residents of the area participated in the janaja at 10 am.

Later, his body was taken to Central Shaheed Minar where he was given state honor around 11:30 am.

Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor said Lucky will be buried at Martyred Intellectual Graveyard at Mirpur following state arrangement.

Lucky Aakhand breathed his last at his residence in Armanitola in the old part of Dhaka city, around 6 pm Friday (April 21).

He was battling with lung cancer for a long time.

However, death of the celebrated artiste brought deep shock among the listeners of Bangla songs.

Mourning messages poured on Facebook, popular social media platform, especially from his fans.
