Five more dengue patients died and 855 people were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease across the country in the last 24 hours Sunday (Oct 16), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 523 new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka, said the DGHS release.

However, 332 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 957 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 890 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Some 25,181 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue till today while 22,240 patients returned home after recovery since January 1.

However, this year a total 94 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year. A total of 105 died from the mosquito-borne disease during that time.
