DHAKA: Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said the Geneva-2 conference on Syria should be held without delay because any delay will increase the number of victims in this conflict.

‘Everyone agrees that this forum should take place as soon as possible,’ Lavrov said in an interview with the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram, reports The Voice of Russia.

‘Every day of delay means death and suffering for many people. For this reason, it is important that the conflicting parties have negotiations in Geneva,’ he added.

‘There is no military solution to the crisis in Syria,’ the minister said.
