Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has outlined the key conditions for ending the war in the Gaza Strip, which include the return of all hostages, the demilitarization of the enclave, and the expulsion of the Hamas leadership.
“I am ready to end the war under clear conditions that ensure Israel’s security: all hostages must return, Hamas must lay down its arms, relinquish power, and its leadership must be expelled from Gaza. The Strip must remain completely demilitarized,” Netanyahu said during a press conference on Wednesday.
He also emphasized the importance of implementing former US President Donald Trump’s plan, describing it as “very correct and revolutionary.”
Netanyahu stated that any country urging Israel to halt hostilities before these objectives are met is essentially supporting Hamas’ continued rule in Gaza.
Israel launched a renewed offensive in Gaza last week under Operation Gideon’s Chariots, which it claims aims to eliminate Hamas once and for all. This escalation comes amid ongoing negotiations in Qatar, mediated by international actors, focused on a possible truce and a deal for the release of Israeli hostages.
On March 18, Israel resumed its strikes on Gaza, citing Hamas’ rejection of a US proposal to extend the ceasefire that expired on March 1. Earlier in March, Israel also cut off electricity to a desalination plant in Gaza and blocked trucks carrying humanitarian aid from entering the enclave.
