A police officer is among four people killed in a shooting incident at an office building in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

The suspected gunman, identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

A significant police presence remains at the scene around 345 Park Avenue, where emergency services responded swiftly following reports of gunfire.

“I saw a man being wheeled away on a stretcher with bandages strapped to his chest,” said a BBC journalist reporting near the area.

The New York Police Department has urged the public to avoid the vicinity while investigations continue.
