DHAKA: Departures have been halted at Washington’s Reagan National Airport due to a shooting at the United States Navy Yard, an official said on Monday.

Chris Paolino, a spokesman for Reagan National Airport, said inbound aircraft are still landing and that the airport remains open to passengers.

Several people have been wounded in a shooting on Monday at the US Navy Yard in Washington, the Navy said, as the authorities searched for an active shooter.

News station NBC, citing a senior naval officer at the Navy Yard, reported that at least 12 people were shot, including four dead and eight wounded, reports The Straits Times.
