DHAKA: Ruling Awami League is set to stage a grand rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan in the city on Sunday afternoon marking the Jail Killing Day.
Patrol Inspector (PI) Anwar told banglanews, “Following the rally security measures have been beefed up in the area. Police men are patrolling around the Udyan from Saturday night.”
On the other hand, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) sources said that DMP gave the permission to Awami League to hold grand rally with 13 conditions.
On Saturday, getting the permission Awami League started taking preparation of rally at around 2:00pm.
The decision to hold rally on November 3 (Jail Killing Day) came from a high-ups meeting of the party.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also Awami League president, will address the rally as chief guest with Deputy leader of the parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury in the chair.
Besides, Advisory Committee Members Tofayel Ahmed, Suranjit Sen Gupta, Amir Hossain Amu, Presidium Members Matia Chowdhury, Mohammad Nasim and other top leaders will also address the rally.
