EC urges President for all-party polls

DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed on Tuesday said requested President M Abdul Hamid to ensure the participation of all-party polls.

He also said the President was requested to take initiative so that all the parties take part in the upcoming polls.

The chief election commissioner came up with the disclosure while talking to journalists after a meeting with the President at Bangabhaban in the afternoon.  

Rakib Uddin also told the journalists that the schedule of the polls would be declared in time but yet to decide.  

Earlier in the day, a five-member delegation of Election Commission (EC) reached at Bangabhaban for discussing the upcoming 10th parliamentary elections.

The delegation led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed reached at the residence of the President at around 3:30pm.

The other members of the delegation were Election Commissioners Abdul Mobarak, Abu Hafiz and Mohammad Shahnewaz, and Election Commission Secretary Dr M Sadik.
