DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed on Sunday said the Election Commission (EC) is yet to fix the date for announcing schedule of the 10th parliamentary polls.
“No meeting of the election commission was held regarding the issue and any decision was not taken. You will know everything soon,” he said.
The chief election commissioner came up with the assertion while talking to journalists as they gathered at the commission secretariat in the evening.
He also told the reporters that the meeting might take place within a couple of days.
Kazi Rakib Uddin also observed that the people of the country are eagerly waiting for political consensus.
He added: “We all want to see a consensus. Everyone wants a peaceful election with participation of all parties. EC is waiting for political consensus.”
On Friday, election commissioner Shahnewaz said the election commission would declare schedule of the next general election by Monday.
