2 killed in Ashuganj clash

BRAHMANBARIA: At least two people were killed and 25 others, including police, were injured in a clash between two groups at Sohaghpur village under Ashuganj upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Hira Mia, 55 and Sharif, 15, son of Shajahan Mia.

The injured, including two constables Monir Hossain and Jahangir Alam were admitted to a local hospital.

Police sources said the members of Mollah and Chowdhury families locked into an altercation over taking bath in a pond.

At one stage of altercation, members of two families locked into a clash with locally made weapons, leaving two people dead on the spot and 25 others injured.

Officer-in-Charge of Ashuganj Thana Golam Faruk confirmed the matter to banglanews.
