Chief Adviser (CA) Dr Muhammad Yunus has said that a democratic state system will be established through a free, fair and neutral national election within a reasonable timeframe.

He made the remarks while presenting the July Declaration at the South Plaza of the National Parliament on Tuesday (August 5).

“The people of Bangladesh are expressing their aspiration to establish the rule of law, human rights, a corruption-free, exploitation-free and discrimination-free society based on values, and a democratic state system, in accordance with the expectations of the nation—particularly the youth—through the necessary constitutional reforms in a newly formed National Parliament, constituted by a free, fair and neutral election held within a reasonable time,” said Dr Yunus.

Standing to his left on stage was BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, while to his right was Nahid Islam, Convener of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP). Also present on stage were Mahmudur Rahman Manna of Nagorik Oikya, Junaid Saki of Ganosamhati Andolon, and leaders from other political parties.

Seated in front of the stage were other advisers of the interim government and leaders from various political parties.
