Inhabitants of Tetulia upazila in Panchagarh district are shivering as severe cold weather continues to intensify.
The lowest temperature 7.2 degree Celsius was recorded in the upazila at 9:00am on Saturday (Jan 27), while it was 5.8 degree Celsius yesterday, said Tetulia Meteorological Centre official Rokonuzzaman.
"This is the country's lowest temperature today. The temperature will fluctuate in Tetulia for the next two days," he said.
Today’s chilly weather disrupted normal life in Tetulia. Many of people were seen lighting fire with straws and tree leaves to get a respite from cold, reports Banglanews correspondent.
Tetulia, the last border town in Bangladesh’s north, experiences extreme cold weather in winter. On 8 January 2018, the mercury fell to 2.6 Degree Celcius in Tetulia, the lowest-ever recorded temperature in Bangladesh’s history.
