Lowest temperature 5.5°C recorded in Dinajpur, Panchagarh

The lowest temperature of the country was recorded at 5.5°C  in Panchagarh and Dinajpur on Sunday (Jan 28), according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Panchagarh district has been experiencing the lowest temperature for the last couple of days.

Earlier, the minimum temperature of 5.8° was recorded at Tetulia (Panchagarh) on Januray 26. On Saturday (January 27), the temperature rose to 7.2 degrees Celsius.

According to the information from the Meteorological Department, despite the rise in temperature due to the current cold wave, Dinajpur is experiencing temperatures mostly below 10 degrees Celsius.

On Thursday (January 25), the minimum temperature in Dinajpur was recorded at 8.3 degrees Celsius, on Friday (January 26) at 7.3 degrees Celsius, and on Saturday (January 27) a record low of 8.2 degrees Celsius was observed.

Asaduzzaman Asad, the Assistant Meteorologist at the Dinajpur Met office, mentioned that although the temperature has dropped, a moderate cold wave is affecting Dinajpur, and there is a possibility of the intense cold wave persisting for a few more days.

People in Dinajpur and Panchagarh are facing difficult conditions due to the severe cold wave and frost. The temperatures in both districts are gradually decreasing with the cold wind and dense fog.

After a period of mild to moderate cold wave, the northern districts are now under the grip of an intense cold wave, affecting daily life.

According to Banglanews correspondents, the most affected are those who work in the fields. Even in these conditions, they have to go outside. Vehicles are seen moving with headlights on in both urban and rural roads.

In addition, the elderly and children are not getting relief from the cold. They are falling victim to various cold-related illnesses.

Various domestic and wild animals have also been affected by the cold. Many have wrapped heavy clothing and blankets around the backs of cattle.
