A Joypurhat court today (January 31) sentenced 11 people to death for killing a ninth grader in Sadar upazila 21 years ago.

Additional District and Sessions Court-2 Judge Abbas Uddin passed the order. 

The court also fined the convicts Tk 50,000 each.

Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Uday Singh confirmed the matter.

The death row convicts are - Bedarul Islam Bedin, Sarwar Hossain Sumon, Moshiur Rahman Ershad, Manowar Hossain Manchur, Nazrul Islam, Rana, Shahi, Tutul, Sujan, Rahim, and Dablu. Their houses are in different areas of Joypurhat.

According to case statement, on 2002, June 28 the convicts picked up Moazzem Hosen, son of Fazlur Rahman from Chitra cinema hall area. Later, the convicts inflicted Moazzem with sharp weapons and sticks. 

However, when Moazzem was rushed to hospital he died there, said case statement.
