A Noakhali court today (Feb 5) sentenced ten people to death and six others to life-term imprisonment for raping a woman in Subarnachar upazila in 2019.
Fatema Ferdous, the judge of Noakhali Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2, delivered the verdict.
The court also sentenced six other accused to life imprisonment.
The accused were also fined Tk 50,000 each. In default of the fine, they would have to stay in jail for two more years.
On the night of the 11th parliamentary election on December 30, 2018, a woman was gang-raped allegedly by Awami League leaders ‘for casting vote in favour of BNP’.
