Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus, including three other Grameen Telecom officials, must notify the Labour Appellate Tribunal before traveling abroad, according to the High Court (HC) order.

Justice Md. Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Ibadat Hossain passed the order today (Feb 5).

Lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan was in favor of the application in the court and lawyer Abdullah Al Mamun represented Dr. Yunus.

On January 1, Dhaka Labor Court-3 Judge Sheikh Marina Sultana sentenced against them under section 303 (e) of the Labor Act with imprisonment for a maximum of six months without work and a fine of five thousand taka, in default 10 days imprisonment.

On the other hand, under section 307, the court imposed a fine of 25 thousand taka, in default, 15 days imprisonment.

After that, the accused applied for bail on condition of appeal. Later, the court granted them bail for one month on a bond of five thousand taka.

On January 28, the Labour Appellate Tribunal's order granted bail to Prof Yunus and three others in the labour law violation case following separate appeals filed by them.

Khurshid Alam Khan said that if the four people go abroad, the labour appeal tribunal should be informed. Besides, the HC suspended the order given by the Labor Appellate Tribunal by suspending the proceedings of the judgment.
