At least three people were killed, and 11 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a covered van in Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar on Thursday (February 8).

The incident happened when a Dhaka-bound bus of Eagle Paribahan from Cox's Bazar collided with the covered van coming from the opposite direction around 10 am in the upazila’s Harbang area.

Chiringa Highway Police Inspector Mahbubul Alam Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.

He said the injured were sent to the Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Among the injured, two are in critical condition. The identities of the dead and injured could not be ascertained. Efforts are on to identify them.

He also said the two vehicles involved in the accident have been seized.
