A Sirajganj court on Tuesday (February 13) sentenced a man and his wife to death for killing his mother at Kazipur upazila in the district in 2016.

Sirajganj Additional District and Sessions Court-3 judge Kaniz Fatema handed down the verdict. 

The death row convicts are - Abdus Samad, 65, son of late Moksed Ali Mondal of village Dakkhin Rehaishuriber under Kazipur upazila, and his wife Rashida Khatun, 50, in presence of them in the early afternoon.

According to case statement, on November 1, 2016, morning the throat-slit body of elderly mother Fatema Begum was recovered from her house located at Rehaishuribed village. She lived with her son Abdus Samad.

Testifying witnesses and evidences the court pronounced the judgement in presence of the accused Abdus Samad and Rashida.
