Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapash today (February 14) announced that the Dhanmondi Lake will remain closed on Wednesday (every week) for cleaning activities.

He made the announcement while talking to journalists after participating in the special cleanliness campaign 2024 in the lake.

Taposh said, “I declare that the whole area of Dhanmondi Lake is to be closed for one day in a week, ‘Wednesday'. No business activities—buying and selling—will take place here on Wednesday. On the day, we will carry out cleanliness activities to keep the lake beautiful.” 

He also issued a set of instructions, including not allowing vagabonds in the lake, indoor food shops to close kitchens by 9:30 pm, and outdoor restaurants to close their kitchens by 10:30 pm.”
