Bashundhara trains 20 insolvent women, gifts sewing machines

Bashundhara Group, the country's largest business conglomerate, has gifted 20 sewing machines to insolvent women, mostly housewives, after training in Bogura.

Besides, Bashundhara Shuvosangho has given various educational materials including school dress, school bags, books and notebooks to the school students.

Imdadul Haq Milan, Editor-in-Chief of the Kaler Kantho and Director of the East West Media Group Ltd, handed over the sewing machines and educational materials in Borokumira Hapunia area of Erulia Union of Bogura Sadar Upazila.

Bashundhara Shuvosangho Sewing Training Center was launched last December. After training 20 women for more than two months, sewing machines were given them for free.

Imdadul Haq said, “Shuvosangho School has been started in Hapunia area for the children of already backward communities. When the school was visited early last year, local women spoke of their financial hardship. To make them financially independent, initiatives were taken to start sewing training centers.”

“All these women who were trained are living a struggling life. They will now earn by sewing clothes through this machine and will meet the needs of the family to some extent,” he said.

He further said, “These training centers have been launched in different areas of the country under the initiative of Bashundhara Shuvosangho. Thousands of women have got the opportunity to earn extra income by training in those centers.”

He said, “Not only that they are being trained, but after the training, each of them gets a sewing machine, so they can earn money and meet a part of the needs of the family without any investment.”

Besides, Bashundhara Group has been bearing all the education expenses of the students since Bashundhara Shuvosangho School was launched in different parts of the country. They are not only provided with educational materials, but also with clothes, school bags and all the materials to happily study in school, he added.

Imdadul expressing his hope said an institution around this school in Bogura will be constructed, apart from the school, the institution will also have sewing training center, library and computer training center. All this will be done to make the backward sections of the society self-reliant.

Chairman of Erulia Union Parishad Atiqur Rahman Atiq, chief advisor of Bogura Shuvosangho and prominent industrialist Mustafa Mahmud Shaon, President Dr. Sirajul Haque Fine and other members of Shuvosangho Central Committee and District Committee were present during distribution ceremony.
