A woman and his son were killed after a bus ran over their motorbike in Tangail's Gopalpur upazila on Saturday (Feb 17) morning.

The accident took place around 8am in Jhawail area.

The deceased identified as Chaina Begum, 48, and his son Sakib, 19, hailed from Mouza Dakuri village.

Locals said Chaina Begum was scheduled to go Dhaka today. For this, she and his son were going to bus stand riding on a motorcycle. When it reached Dorishoya Government Primary School, a running bus of 'Drutogami Paribahan' from opposite direction smashed the vehicle. The woman and his son died on the scene.

Gopalpur Police Station OC Emdadul Islam Taiyob confirmed the matter.

The bus was seized but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene, he said.
