Dhaka University's Central Coordination Committee for Observing Amar Ekushey on Monday published a route map for going to the Central Shaheed Minar on February 21 to pay respect to the language martyrs.

The university authorities held a press conference at Abdul Matin Virtual classroom of the university where they disclosed the route map and overall preparation taken to mark the Language Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day on 21 February.

At the press conference, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal said that the preparations for offering floral tributes at the Central Shaheed Minar on Ekushey's first hour, as per tradition, are underway and will be completed in due time.

"This year, individuals at all levels and organizations will have the opportunity to offer floral tributes at the Central Shaheed Minar. Dhaka University will ensure the orderly completion of this national program," he said.

At 12:01 am on Ekushey, dignitaries including the President, Prime Minister, and leaders of the National Parliament will offer the first floral tribute at Central Shaheed Minar. Subsequently, heads of the three forces, language fighters, university officials, and academic leaders will also pay their respects.

The Central Shaheed Minar will then be accessible for the general public to honor the occasion.

The Vice-Chancellor also said that people from all walks of life will proceed to the Central Shaheed Minar through Palashi Intersection, passing Salimullah Muslim Hall and Jagannath Hall, to offer floral tributes.

After paying respects at the Central Shaheed Minar, they will only exit through the road in front of the university's central playground, passing through the Doel Chattar and the road to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. No entry will be allowed towards the Central Shaheed Minar from that direction.

He further said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina offered floral tributes at the Central Shaheed Minar a total of 21 times as the head of the government.

"A rare exhibition will be organized in the area around the Central Shaheed Minar featuring images of her 21 floral tributes at the Central Shaheed Minar," he said.

The Vice-Chancellor urged all members of the university community and related entities to observe the Language Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day with dignity and solemnity. He also gave emphasis on the importance of maintaining a proper, peaceful, and disciplined environment during the observance of the day.
