Bangla Academy today (Feb 27) decided to extend the duration of the ongoing Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela for two more days.

Citing Bangla Academy Director General Mohammad Nurul Huda, Bangla Academy Director (Public Relations, Information Technology and Training) Samir Kumar Sarker confirmed the matter to the Daily Sun.

Now the largest book fair in the country will continue till 2 March. Therefore, the publishers will enjoy a surge in sales during two weekly holidays.

Appreciating the decision, President of Academic and Creative Publishers Association of Bangladesh and Publisher of Somoy Prakashan Farid Ahmed thanked Bangla Academy for accepting their request.

He said this would recover the loss publishers incurred in the first two days of the fair due to inclement weather.
