Indian Navy has released pictures of four Somali pirates aboard the Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah. 

The pictures the Indian Navy released in a social media post on Friday, shows pirates patrolling the upper part of the ship with heavy weapons.

Meanwhile, the Indian Navy's Mission deployed a warship and an LRMP responded to a piracy attack on MV Abdullah, a Bangladeshi-flagged vessel, whilst en route from Mozambique to the United Arab Emirates.

On Friday, the Indian Navy announced (through a social media post) that they sent a warship and a long-range patrol plane to help the Bangladeshi cargo ship MV Abdullah after pirates attacked it in the Indian Ocean.

The Indian Navy said they made sure the crew was safe and an Indian warship stayed close to the MV Abdullah until it reached Somali waters.

Somali pirates took control of the Bangladeshi ship on Tuesday afternoon. On Thursday, they anchored the ship 20 nautical miles off the Somali coast, then moved it closer to shore later that day. It's believed they did this to stay in control.

The Indian Navy received word of the attack on March 12th. They sent their long-range patrol plane to find the MV Abdullah that same evening and tried to contact the ship to check on the crew, but got no response.

An Indian warship that was already patrolling nearby was redirected and stopped the hijacked ship on the morning of March 14th.

This news comes after other recent anti-piracy actions by the Indian Navy. Earlier this month, they stopped a pirate attack on an Iranian fishing vessel. 

In January, they rescued Pakistani crew members from a hijacked Iranian ship and also stopped an attempted hijacking of a Liberian ship in the North Arabian Sea.

There are growing concerns around the world about attacks by Houthi militants on cargo ships in the Red Sea in recent months. This is happening during the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
