A security guard was hacked to death allegedly in front of an ATM booth in Pragati Sarani area of Shahjadpur in the capital on Wednesday (April 10).

The deceased Hasan Mahmud, 55, was killed in the ATM booth of Madhumoti Bank in the area in between 5 to 5.20am.

Officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station Majharul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said on information, police recovered the body on Wednesday afternoon and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors said he had died much earlier.

The official said they suspected that miscreants might have killed him after they have not able to rob the money.

Police have collected the CCTV footage to identify the accused.
