5 killed at Sadarghat as launch rope detach

Five people were killed at Sadarghat Launch Terminal after the anchor rope of a launch separated and hit them today (April 11).

Joynul Abedin, director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) confirming the matter said the incident happened around 2:54pm.

Earlier, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadarghat Naval Station Abul Kalam said that five people were seriously injured in the impact of the launch. The injured were rescued and sent to the hospital.
