Boisabi festival celebrated in capital

The Boisabi festival one of the most significant and biggest festivals for the communities of the Chattogram Hill Tract was celebrated in the capital with great joy and enthusiasm today (April 12).

The three-day festival was organized by the Ministry of Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dipankar Talukdar MP as the chief guest attended the festival organized by Tripura Kalyan Foundation.

This Boisabi festival is known as Baisu in Tripura language, Sangraing in Marma language and Biju in Chakma-Tanchangya language.

The celebration began through young women of Chakma and Tripura communities in the two districts immersing flowers in the Changi river and different canals on ‘Phul Biju’, the first day of the three-day traditional Biju festival.

People from different communities of Chattogram Hill Tracts living in the capital participated in the festival by dressing up in fancy dress.

The colorfully decorated Boisabi rally started at 9 am from the Sheikh Hasina Chattogram Hill Tracts Heritage Conservation and Research Center, circled Bailey Road and Ramna Park and ended at the edge of the park's lake.

Later, men, women and children floated flowers in the water of Ramana Lake, wishing for the peace and prosperity of the country, and the festival ended.
