Two people were killed and four others injured as a CNG-run autorickshaw fell into a ditch at Kolapara upazila in Patuakhali district on Saturday.
The accident occurred around 7.30am on the Dhaka-Kuakata highway in Bishkani area in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Afzal Hossain, 60, a resident of Baroitola area, and Zakaria, 23, of Charpara area of Barguna district.
Locals said a CNG-run autorickshaw with five passengers was heading towards Kolapara from Amtoli. On the way, its driver lost control over the steering of the vehicle and fell into a ditch, leaving two dead on the spot and four others injured.
Kolapara Police Station officer-in-charge Ali Ahmmad said being informed, police rescued the injured and sent them to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Police also recovered the bodies from the spot and sent them to Patuakhali Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC said, adding legal action was underway in this regard.
